God has blessed us with two wonderful daughters, Sarah and Kathryn. While we know of no reason we could not have more biological children, we never felt a complete peace about doing so at this point in our lives. While the subject of adoption had been discussed at various times during our marriage, we never discussed it seriously until earlier this year (2005). In February, God turned both of our hearts to the subject of adoption again, and we began to see it as a very real possibility in our lives. After much discussion, prayer, and research, we felt a peace about beginning the process to bring a child into our home, and sent our adoption application to America World Adoption Association (www.awaa.org) in March.

As Christians, adoption has always seemed to us to be such a vivid picture of the perfect love and grace of God. At the core of our faith, we understand that through the life and death of Jesus Christ, we have undeservedly been given the wonderful gift of entrance into God’s family, a sort of “spiritual adoption” if you will. We are by no means perfect, but as we trace the paths of our lives, we are truly humbled at how God has poured his grace and blessing onto us as His children. It seems that every year has been a fresh testament to His loving provision and transforming work in our lives.
