Why China?

Our hearts have been moved for many years by the countless stories of unwanted and abandoned baby girls in China. Families are limited to having one child, and have to receive special permission to have more or risk paying heavy fines. Boys are more desired because they are expected to marry and remain in their parents’ home, working with their parents and caring for them in their old age. Girls will marry and move to their husband’s parental home. Therefore, when girls are born, so often they are abandoned to be raised in orphanages across the country. Having daughters ourselves that we love so deeply, we feel the deep longing to rescue at least one of these “lost girls†and give her the loving family that she so needs.
